Mic check…is this thing on?

Was I seriously MIA for 5 months?! How does that even happen? I don’t have an answer to that question but who cares! I’m back people so I hope you’re ready. To kick off my return, I’m going to do … Continue reading

So Fresh Fridays!

My favorite thing about the holidays is that all my favorite cosmetic brands release some seriously fabulous gift palettes. I love palettes because they allow you to try different products without having to purchase the full sized item and because most of them come with products for your full face, they are great to throw in your purse for those necessary mid-day touch ups.

Here are my picks from Benefit Cosmetics. Two of these items are new palette’s but one is their eyebrow highlighter. I have this product in the matte formula and am soooo looking forward to trying their shimmer version. Perfection!

Santa Clause is Coming to Town

For the next month or so, I will be featuring Christmas gift ideas for all of those special people in your life.

Since this is a beauty blog, I have to start by featuring an amazing case of goodies from Sephora. I received something similar to this a few years back but this makeup train case is just beyond! It really puts the one I received to shame.

Included in this case are:

– 64 x waterproof eye shadow
– 12 x longwear cream eyeliner
– 6 x eye top coat
– 6 x lip top coat
– 48 x lip gloss
– 3 x blush
– 6 x multi-purpose cream for eye, cheek, and lip
– 3 x multi-purpose luminizer
– 3 x makeup brush
– Mirror

This case is a great start for those of you wanting to branch out with your typical makeup routine. It has some great, vibrant colors but also includes safe options. Good luck experimenting!

Just Like the Celebs

Love Khloe Kardashian’s lip color? If so, you too can rock this look. Thanks to her makeup artist, Rob Scheppy (@robscheppy), for Instagraming so we can all get this beautiful purply, pink color all to ourselves. It is called Violet Fatale by Tom Ford and I for one love it!

Pop of Color

I find there is no better tip to make my eyes pop than lining my waterline. As I mentioned in my previous post here, when I line my lower lash line with a dark color, it tends to makes my eyes look much smaller and I look tired but sometimes I still want that definition so I line my waterline instead.

I know most people use black in order to do this, which I use most of the time too, but my favorite tip is to line ONLY your waterline with a colored liner. Now, I am not a fan of lining with too contrasting of a color (think a seafoam green with black liner) but I LOVE using a deep purple, emerald green and one of my absolute favorites,  Navy!

A couple of my favorite colored liners are from Sonia Kashuk’s line at Target. The purple liner is called Purple Passion and the Navy is called Sapphire.

Here are a couple of examples to show this pop of color! The top photo used emerald green and the bottom used purple.

Ghoulishly Gorgeous

I have never gone full out with my makeup for Halloween but I am dying to try one of these ghoulishly gorgeous looks!

I am consistently amazed by the talent of some makeup artists out there. They truly are face artists and I for one and super envious!

What is your favorite look? Mine is the comic book character. How clever!

Black Shadow Alternative

I love a smokey eye but I often find that jet black shadow and eyeliner can be too harsh on me. Now don’t get me wrong, I am the first to use jet black liner to line my upper lid and waterline but the second I try to bring that shadow or liner down on my lower lash line it immediately makes my eyes look smaller and tired. Tired is never cute haha!

One alternative I am loving this season is this beautiful smokey grey/navy shadow. I absolutely love this color as a shimmer shadow. It is the perfect shade for everyones upcoming holiday parties!

I am also a big fan of using darker bronze and lighter plum shimmer shadows to create a smokey eye. They are not as intense as a black or chocolate brown but they are understated and just as beautiful!

Here are some of my favorite black alternatives…
